Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of Shalem (the "Service"), operated by Zan - Zari Labs OÜ ("we," "us"), an Estonian private limited company (registry code 17286420). By using the Service you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. What Shalem is

Shalem is a contemplative spiritual wellness application that matches a user's emotional or situational input to curated Jewish source texts (Tanakh, Talmud, Midrash, Hasidic literature, traditional liturgy) and returns a short reflection plus an optional 3-day practice. The Service is provided as-is, for personal reflection. It is not a substitute for medical, psychological, or rabbinic care.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you are under 18 in your jurisdiction, you must have permission from a parent or legal guardian.

3. Subscriptions and billing

Shalem offers a free Community tier and paid tiers at $12.99/month or $85.99/year. Paid subscriptions are processed through Apple App Store or Google Play and are governed by their respective subscription terms. Cancellation must be made through the relevant store at least 24 hours before the renewal date to avoid being charged for the next period.

Shalem is contemplative content. It does not diagnose, treat, or cure any condition. If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, please contact a qualified clinician or a crisis line. For binding rabbinic questions (halachic rulings), consult a posek (decisor) in your community. We do not pasken halacha.

6. Intellectual property

The Service interface, software, design, and curated arrangement of the corpus are owned by Zan - Zari Labs OÜ. The underlying source texts (Torah, Talmud, etc.) are in the public domain or used under fair-use educational exception. Translations and editorial arrangement are our work. Reflections generated for you are licensed to you for personal use. You may quote them with attribution.

7. Privacy

Our handling of your data is described in the Privacy Policy. We do not retain voice or text input after processing. Journals are stored locally on your device, not in the cloud.

8. Termination

We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these terms or use the Service in a way that causes harm. You may stop using the Service at any time and request deletion of any account data by emailing support@shalemapp.com.

9. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that the matching will be optimal for your situation. We are not responsible for decisions you make based on the Service's output.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our liability for any claim arising from your use of the Service is limited to the amount you have paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim, or €100, whichever is greater. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of Estonia. Disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Tallinn, Estonia, unless an applicable consumer protection law in your jurisdiction grants you a different forum.

12. Changes

We may update these terms. Material changes will be communicated through the app or by email. Continued use after notice constitutes acceptance.
